Latest updates on the 2026 festive season.

On this page, we share the latest updates on our services, any delays and changes to the delivery process during the busy end-of-year period. You’ll find everything about preparations and changes on our festive season page.

[26-10] Sinterklaas falls on a Saturday.
This year, Sinterklaas (Pakjesavond, the Dutch gift-giving evening) falls on Saturday 5 December. If your carrier doesn’t deliver on Saturdays, Friday 4 December is your last delivery day.

[22-10] Changes to our opening hours.
Our opening hours change over Christmas and New Year. On 24 and 31 December, you can reach us from 07:00 to 17:00. We’re closed on 25 and 26 December and on 1 January.

PostNL, DHL, DPD and UPS have different drop-off and delivery days over the holidays. Check the festive season handout for an overview per carrier.

[19-10] Peak surcharges.
To process and deliver as many parcels as possible during the busy end-of-year period, carriers take extra measures. They hire more staff and deploy more equipment. To cover part of those costs, some carriers introduce a peak surcharge.

  • PostNL: from 15 November to 31 December 2026. The surcharge is €0.32 per parcel and €0.18 per mailbox parcel.

  • UPS: from 20 September 2026 to 6 February 2027. The surcharge applies to deliveries to residential addresses, large parcels and parcels that require additional handling. The amount varies by shipment type and destination. You’ll find more information in the UPS handout.

  • DHL and DPD don’t charge a general peak surcharge. DPD does charge €1.70 per tyre between 24 September 2026 and 6 February 2027. This only applies to shipments containing tyres.
